On August 15th, I had the honour of celebrating my friend Andrea, founder of @piccolotoronto, as she marked her first year in business!

Piccolo Toronto is a beautiful children’s play café in Woodbridge — a space where families come together to celebrate life’s milestones, kids can explore and play, and parents can relax in a welcoming café setting. Andrea has built something truly special, and I couldn’t be more proud of her.

Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of sharing my Double Agent coffee with her community, including at this milestone celebration. What makes this partnership even more meaningful is our shared purpose: as small business owners with health care heroes in our families, we’re committed to giving back and supporting the heroes at William Osler Health System — one cup at a time.

I just dropped off a donation cheque for $658, representing coffee sales from May and June — and I couldn’t be more proud to say this brings us even closer to our goal of raising $10,000 for the William Osler Health System Foundation.

In just two months, we sold nearly 400 bags of coffee — a testament to how far a small business with a mission can go when backed by a strong, supportive community.

I'm standing here in front of the future site of the new Peel Memorial Hospital addition in Brampton. This is exactly where your support is going — directly into building better healthcare for our city.

Running The Mister Brewer isn’t just about roasting and delivering specialty coffee — it’s about giving back, creating impact, and connecting people through something as simple (and powerful) as a cup of coffee.

2024 marks another chapter in the story of The Mister Brewer—a dream that has grown into a calling.

To me, coffee is more than just a beverage—it’s family, connection, and strength. When my uncles, Joe and Franco Sottile, passed away, it was the hardest time my family had ever faced. Coffee became more than a drink—it brought us together. Around the table, with steaming mugs in hand, we shared stories, tears, and laughter. It reminded us that even in loss, we could find strength in one another.

That’s where I discovered my purpose: to bring people together, to honour those we’ve lost, and to create a movement of love and change.

The Mister Brewer was born from that purpose. Inspired by the care my uncles received at Brampton Civic Hospital, I set out to build a coffee company that would spark connection, make a difference, and unite a community. Together, we’ve raised over $6300 for the William Osler Health System Foundation and shown that one purpose can bring people together.

To my incredible partners and supporters—thank you for making this dream your own. As we move forward, let’s continue to brew more than coffee. Let’s brew hope, connection, and change.

Over November and December, we raised over $600 through coffee sales! I want to thank everyone who purchased my coffee, The Mister Brewer—your support means the world to me. This Christmas, I worked late nights to make sure every order was delivered or shipped in time, and I was so happy to know that The Mister Brewer was part of your Christmas morning. Together, we continue to proudly support our healthcare heroes at William Osler through every cup.

I’m beyond excited and still in shock! 🎉 I just opened my email to the most incredible news – The Mister Brewer has received not one but TWO Community Votes awards for Brampton! 🏆 We earned the Gold award for Cafes & Coffee Shop, and to top it off, we took home the Platinum award for Specialty Coffee! 😍 This is such a huge honor, especially knowing we went up against some big, well-known names in the industry. As we grow together, we stand by and support our healthcare heroes. Through collaborations with fellow local businesses, we're actively contributing to the well-being of our community.

Anthony Lombardo (Systems Analyst ’13) believes that coffee ☕️ brings family and friends together. He’s worked within the I.T. space in healthcare for more than a decade, so when he started his own coffee company, The Mister Brewer, in 2020 he wanted a way to give back to our healthcare heroes and does so by donating 10% of all sales to William Osler Health System.

It's hard to believe that 18 weeks have gone by, and now I don't know how I will spend my Saturdays now😥. I'll sincerely miss the early 5am wake-up calls to set up my booth and the amazing chats and laughs with all of you over an amazing cup of coffee. ☕🌞
